Hi there, it's Olaf!
Katy's in her last week at Westminster College! Who knew eight weeks of term would fly by so fast! Now she is working hard to write essays and get ready for some traveling to Iona, Scotland and Taize, France. She wants to go spend time with some worshipping communities...who does that? Well, I guess we do, seeing as she's packing me along. So, I'll let you know how we fare.
But, guess what!??!!?!?
We went on a trip! To Eindhoven & Amsterdam , Netherlands . Katy was super excited because EVERYTHING on Ryanair is BLUE and YELLOW. Go figure, she's weird. It was a quick flight (like Dallas to Houston quick!) and overall, wasn't a bad experience. Mind you, she only packed a backpack for four days. (I was impressed with her.)
(what??)
Guess what else is blue and yellow? THE DOUBLE DECKER TRAINS.
Welcoming beer.
We found this a highly disturbing window (toys were moving...)
Shelter City Hostel Community Night - led by a college group from Iowa! Woo!
We had some fun and met neat people!
We made a friend in this furry kitty too. She roamed the hostel.
Conversation starter for community night. Most of us had to put multiple dots on the map. (Katy will most likely blog about this when she's not writing essays.)
Katy tried the apple cake on the left. Phenomenal.
Basically beach weather in Amsterdam.
Pretty sure I got a tan.
We loved the Rijks museum! It was a bit surreal to read about pieces of art and then find yourself right in front of them. Yay museums.
(Diorama)
I love antiquing.
So, the chocolate factory part. The lovely group from Northwestern College in Iowa were kind enough to invite us with them for an afternoon outing at Zaanse Schans. (Worth a google.)
This entire town smelled like chocolate. It just made you start salivating.
Sampling was a MUST.
Bossy free-ranged chickens.
Seriously, this lady was a bully to that sweet duck.
Look, we learned about chocolate!
I'm fine if you want to just let me chill here...
Here we are in the spice museum!
Squirrel Wedding Cake. #yesplease
New friends! Yay!
Mmm, cheese.
LOVE this place.
I found where Santa vacations...
Thanks, Netherlands, for a wonderful weekend!
